- How to make margin note cross-references
- ========================================
-
- Margin notes are just that -- notes in the margins of text.
-
- The most familiar texts for margin notes are either the Bible or Talmud.
- Consider these margin note cross-references to the Glossary file:
-
- Biblical notes <file14> Biblical margin notes tend toward references by chapter
- and verse to other text within the Bible. The
- exception to this is found in translator bibles, which
- often contain Hebrew, Greek, and English text,
- complete with the translator's commentary.
-
- Talmudic notes <file14> The margin notes in the Talmud often contain commentary
- on the text as well as comments on commentary already
- contained in the margin notes.
-
- Postil notes <file14> While I refer to both of these styles of writing as
- "talmudic," the technical name for this is postil,
- which is a Latin abbreviation for the margin note.
